This salad is popular around the traditional holidays of New Years Christmas and Easter and served at most parties and family gettogethers in the Russian communities.
But the original version of the salad was invented in the 1860s by a cook of Belgian origin Lucien Olivier.
THE OPTION A Im proposing here is not traditional.
Its my improvisation.
INGREDIENTS :
200 g of Any cooked meat or sausage
3 cooked and cubed potatoes
3 cooked and cubed carrots
5 eggs hardboiled and cubed
200 g of canned green peas
100 g of mayonnaise
200 g salted pickles
chopped dill for decorate
Tips:
The cubed pickles to drain overnight in a sieve or squeezing out all the juices just add the pickles to a few paper towels and squeeze.
This way the juices from the pickles dont overpower the flavours of the remaining ingredients and add sogginess to the salad.
