Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 50mm f1.8G Lens with Auto Focus for Nikon DSLR Cameras

In this video I give a general overview of the Nikon 50mm f1.8g lens for full-frame cameras.
Its a great cost effective solution to get that normal lens with a large aperture.
This was my first Nikon full-frame lens and it turned out to be a great purchase considering the price vs the output.
Nikons f1.8g lenses are a great middle ground in lenses. I use a filter almost exclusively on it. - AFMF switch on the lens. - AF-S Silent Wave Motor works with all Nikon DSLRs. - Internal focus RF Rear focusing - Minimum Focus Distance: 1.48ft 0.45 m - Rubber gasket around the lens bayonet. - Negatives --- Minimum focal distance means that it isnt ideal for product shots or close-ups in general.
The tradeoff to have closer focus isnt worth it either slower AF or higher cost to have a focus limiter switch and at that point just get a dedicated macro lens. --- Build quality is standard Nikon f1.8 series which isnt amazing.
My rubber focus ring is looking pretty grungy but not sure if replacements can be bought. --- At minimum focus the interior barrel extends out.
If you dont use a filter I could imagine cleaning issues or even debris getting stuck in there.
The area stays clean when a filter is used. - My experiences and history with it. --- Many years of use.
The first lens I picked up for the Nikon D600.
I knew when I switched to FF from Pentax that the 50mm would be a good starter focal length and I was right. --- As you would expect a versatile go-to lens for many situations.
Often I would use this because Im extremely familiar with it and know it can handle most situations. --- Ive used it extensively in cosplaypeople photography.
Often I would select this as the only lens I would bring so that I could focus more on lighting equipment. - Its not too difficult to find a decent 50mm lens.
You can buy used or get something with a wider aperture but I see this as an ideal compromise nice warranty consistency good image quality good AF performance.
Price is great for what you receive.
Dependable and consistent performance for around 200.
Id suggest picking this up over a kit lens. - They still sell the 50mm f1.8D 80 less 50mm f1.4D 115 more and 50mm f1.4G 220 more.
Cant comment on lens properties like sharpness such.
Outside of price differences there are differences in: aperture ring maximum aperture size quick manual focus shift and internal AF motor or not af noise works on cheaper nikons etc. Nikon 50mm NiftyFifty I hope you enjoyed this video.
